Problem Note 51689: Error messages might be generated when using the %SYSFUNC macro function with the FCMP procedure

Error messages like the following might be generated when using the %SYSFUNC macro function with the FCMP procedure:

ERROR: An exception has been encountered. Please contact technical support and provide them with the following traceback information: The SAS task name is [DATASTEP] ERROR: Read Access Violation DATASTEP Exception occurred at (04293773) Task Traceback

These errors are most likely to be generated when all of the following occur:

  1. The OPEN function is used inside PROC FCMP code when creating a user-defined function.
  2. The %SYSFUNC macro function calls the user-defined function that was created.
  3. A DATA step calls the macro that contains the %SYSFUNC macro function.

The second and subsequent executions of the DATA step return the errors.

There is currently no circumvention for this problem.
